Ongoing Consultation
Sometimes what’s needed isn’t a single training series but a longer partnership. In an ongoing consultation process, I work alongside leaders and teams to integrate culture change into the fabric of the organization. This can include designing multi-month processes, convening and facilitating working groups on specific policies and practices, and supporting leadership in modeling the shifts they want to see. My approach balances clarity with flexibility: we move at a pace that respects the organization’s capacity, while staying grounded in the vision of healthier, more connected ways of working.
Our Approach
As a consultant, I show up first and foremost as a thought partner, bringing process design expertise and coaching support for leadership when helpful. The work is flexible and responsive, and always rooted in the tools and frameworks that participants develop in trainings. In consultation, we actively apply those tools to real-world issues: inviting in everyone's voices, working through disagreements constructively, and making sure power dynamics don’t silence input and robust conversation.
The Impact
Effective consultation gives organizations both the tools and the confidence to move conversations forward and shape interventions that last. With support from The Greater Us, groups learn to analyze problems differently and work through them collaboratively in ways that strengthen relationships, align with values, and create healthier organizational cultures.
What It Can Look Like
Consultation takes many forms depending on the needs of the organization. It might involve facilitating a working group on hiring, rewriting an HR policy manual, curriculum review, or guiding community stakeholder engagement. Sometimes it’s ongoing support after an initial assessment or training cycle — helping leaders and culture teams problem-solve as challenges arise. Other times it’s short-term interventions, such as crisis response or supporting change management during a period of transition.
Consultation is about partnership — working alongside leaders, culture teams, and staff to embed culture change into the daily life of an organization. Get in touch to learn more!
Client Feedback
-Jennifer R.
"Dr. Akhtar managed to create a safe and integrous space, while bringing a sense of fun and ease to the process. She was able to read the dynamics that arose as the process unfolded and was agile and clear in her responses. Dr. Akhtar moved seamlessly between knowledge and praxis, welcoming any questions and inviting in peoples diverse lived experiences without judgement. I felt confident and held in the process and engaged in learning more because of the animated and confident way she presented the content. It’s rare that one finds a facilitator who can both present theory and methodology whilst navigating the complexities of engaging participants in potentially emotive and sometimes deeply buried, often unspoken or unseen guilt, shame or pain around privileges or oppressions. I found it an honest process."
